Romano claims Spurs have made contacts about Premier League star ‘super-appreciated’ by Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham have already signed Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin in the ongoing transfer window, and are now actively pursuing a third high-profile transfer, with English midfielder Conor Gallagher remaining their top target.

Gallagher, in the final 18 months of his Chelsea contract, is valued at around £50 million by the Blues. Despite the high asking price, Pochettino is determined to retain Gallagher, actively working on a new contract for the player, who has been a key figure in the team this season.

The Lilywhites’ interest in Gallagher dates back to the summer, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has discussed the ongoing transfer saga on his Here We Go Podcast.

Romano revealed that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou holds a strong appreciation for Gallagher, but talks between the clubs or with the player’s agent are yet to begin.

Romano said:

“I think we will always have links between Conor Gallagher and Tottenham because he is super-appreciated by the club and especially by Ange Postecoglou. I’m still hearing it was since July/August that they started some contacts to understands the situation and he’s always been super-appreciated by the manager so the interest is there.”

The transfer expert also delivered some discouraging news as he suggested that Spurs are happy with the incomings so far and any new signing will now depend on the outgoings.

He added:

“But, what I’m told right now is there is still no negotiations, club to club or club to agent to make the deal. Tottenham are very happy with the signings they completed and with a new midfielder, it has to be with an opportunity or it has to be after outgoings.”

TBH Says:

Spurs are short of midfield options at the moment with Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr unavailable due to the AFCON.

They need to sign another central midfielder but it looks like any new signing will depend on the future of Hojbjerg.
