“Biggest benefactor” – Rio Ferdinand names the player who will benefit the most from Harry Kane’s departure

Former Manchester United defender turned pundit Rio Ferdinand has heaped prasied on Tottenham striker Richarlison after his recent display against Sheffield United.

The Brazilian has been struggling since his big money move to Spurs. He recently opened up about struggling mentally as well and admitted that he is going to seek professional help.

He came off the bench to inspire Tottenham to a stunning comeback against the Blades on Saturday.

Sheffield took the lead against the run of play in the 73rd minute and it seemed like the game would finish in a Spurs defeat but the former Everton striker scored in the 98th minute with a header from a corner before assisting Kulusevksi’s match winner 2 minutes later.

And the Manchester United legend was full of praise for his performance. He said on his Youtube channel:

“I have to be honest, I rate him. I really like him, I love his energy. I felt for him the other day, with his comments that he wants to see a psychiatrist to help him handle the situation he’s in at the moment. But I just think no-one knows what’s going on behind the scenes and I hope he gets himself right.

“But I like him as a player. I remember speaking to Carlo Ancelotti about him when he had him at Everton and he said this kid will play for a top, top tier team; a Champions League team and he’ll be one of the best players around because he’s that good. [With] Harry Kane going, [Richarlison] could be the biggest benefactor of it.”

The perception around Richarlison seems to be changing and deservedly so. He has had a tough last 18 months but the performance against Sheffield could just be the opportunity to revive his Spurs career.
