Revealed – Tottenham held talks with striker that destroyed Liverpool

By Bruce Grove -

It was common knowledge that Spurs were looking for a new striker in the just-closed transfer window.

The Lilywhites have been relying on only Harry Kane to score the goals for a long time now and Jose Mourinho was keen to ensure that he had a new striker to take some of the burden off the England captain.

Several players were linked with a move to the north London side and Football Insider has revealed one player who might have joined them.

It claims that Ollie Watkins was approached by Tottenham to become their latest striker in the just closed transfer window.

Daniel Levy held talks with his camp and with Brentford over a potential move.

The player was reportedly keen to make the move to Spurs even though he knew he would have to settle for a place on the bench in most games.

But Levy wouldn’t meet Brentford’s asking price.

The report claims that the notoriously shrewd businessman continued to try and drive down the asking price for the deal and when Aston Villa came with a better offer he was sold to the Villans.

Watkins scored a brilliant hat-trick as Aston Villa beat Liverpool 7-2 in their last Premier League game, he has scored five goals in six games for them.
