Revealed – Late swoop from Tottenham for top quality target was unsuccessful

Tottenham was in fine form in the last international transfer window and until the final day, they were still looking to make additions to their team.

They managed to sign Carlos Vinicius late into the transfer window, however, it now appears that they might have signed another striker instead.

Le Progress via Inside Futbol is reporting that Spurs made a late attempt to sign former Celtic striker, Moussa Dembele before the transfer window closed.

The report didn’t specify if Spurs wanted to sign him on loan or permanently, neither did it say how much the Lilywhites offered for him.

However, it claims that Lyon turned down the offer because the striker was a key part of their team and they weren’t looking to sell him that late in the window when they will almost certainly not have been able to replace him.

Dembele has experience of English football having broken through at Fulham before he made the move across to Celtic in Scotland.

He hasn’t scored a goal for Lyon this season, but he has scored 44 goals for the French side already. He scored 51 goals in less than 100 games for Celtic.

Spurs will no doubt hope that Vinicius will be so good for them that they will not have to consider signing another striker in the next transfer windows.
