According to David Ornstein for The Athletic, Pierre Hojbjerg’s contract has a bonus clause for Southampton Football Club, which goes up to a maximum of £2 million for Champions League qualification in future seasons. As things stand at present, Tottenham would not have to cut anyone St Mary’s a cheque.
This was discussed on social media and of course, some fans couldn’t resist the chance to have a pop at Daniel Levy’s infamous focus on the pennies. Of course, Spurs would stand to lose many millions more than this comparative small change, but that’s the gallows humour that can arise after being exposed to the financial gymnastics associated with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
How far away are Spurs from that elusive European place, right now? Curiously just 3 points, but the problem is more about achieving some standards of consistency. Managing to occasionally climb out of a disaster and win a make or break game is not to be confused with credible form.

West Ham play Leicester, Chelsea, Everton; Leicester play both of the above, us, United and City.
I dare not dream of the top 4, but with any sort of consistency, there’s no reason we couldn’t get there. Consistency being the operative word, though.
Cannot believe for a second that you are suggesting that Levy will be quietly hoping we don’t qualify for the CL? That comment is everything that is wrong with our fanbase.
I believe Jose will get us there, never thought he could get us to Europa qualification before Lockdown & he did.

Well, when you look at it, the CL money is peanuts to what Levy will have to shell out to compete in it if Jose gets him there. On top the Hojberg clause, I reckon Levy will be banking on not getting in.
