Respected journalists reckon Arsenal will beat Tottenham to free agent

By Bruce Grove -

Respected journalists Jacob Steinberg and Fabrizio Romano have revealed that Arsenal is in pole position to sign soon-to-be Chelsea free agent, Willian this summer.

The Brazilian will be out of a contract at the end of this season (Chelsea are still in the FA Cup and Champions League) unless the Blues can agree to his demands of a three-year deal.

He has been told that they can only offer him a two-year deal, and the Brazilian is insisting on his demand.

He has been one of their standout performers since the Premier League’s restart, but he looks set to leave.

Spurs have been tipped to sign him before now as Jose Mourinho would apparently like to be reunited with the player that he signed for Chelsea in 2013.

There are other teams who have been linked with a move for him as well, but remaining in London might be a better option for him and his family.

Writing an update on Chelsea’s transfer businesses, Jacob Steinberg and Fabrizio Romano wrote on The Guardian that Willian is likely to join Arsenal on a free transfer.

They wrote: “While Lampard wants Willian to stay, the 31-year-old Brazilian winger’s hopes of a new three-year deal look slim and there is an expectation that he could end up joining Arsenal on a free.”

Personally, I will be content for him to sign for that mob, Tottenham does not need him and a lot of fans, myself included, never want to see him in a Tottenham shirt.

I agree about the ar$e and it looks like Arteta has a bigger problem on his hands than Mourinho.

Putting petty hate aside he’s a very good player who would have improved us for sure.

I hope so – I think that would be the best situation all round. Don’t need Arsenal strengthening their squad for free. Personally I’m Happy to see them rot with no money.

At 31 he is looking for a 3 year deal.I don’t see the ar$e or us going for that.Besides I understand he is very close to extending with the chavs (Mail).

If he wasn’t willian he’d be wanted in for so many reasons. Firstly (mainly) he can play. Secondly we need a winner around the place. Thirdly it would be great for José to have a old mate there. 3 year contract on Kane’s money? Not gonna happen no matter how fr€€ he is🌚

If I heard we’d signed him I wouldn’t be excited, wouldn’t say no but is he a game changer, is he taking us to the next level? Is he that big an upgrade on Moura or Bergwign. We have more pressing needs. Go get Saar from Watford.
