Report: What Prompted Levy To Saddle Us With Dele Alli Until The Summer

By The Boy -

PA Sport are reporting that the real reason that Dele Alli is still with us. Shock horror, this has absolutely nothing to do with some of the frankly daft suggestions that were doing the rounds this week. Somebody even took time out to email me and advise that Dele was retained as he would rise again, once Mourinho was gone!

The report understands that Tottenham were hesitant about Dele leaving N17 over concerns that the side might be left short should midfield injuries continue at their current rate.

I take a view that this makes sense on a very superficial level, but if Dele Alli isn’t worth fielding in the first instance, who in their right mind believes he’ll make an able substitute?

Hopefully, Mourinho and Levy are having a frank exchange of views, and the Portuguese is gently spelling out to our illustrious leader what needs to be rectified in the next window.

The Bayern 7 and final. I was at both (the final on the screens) the Bayern 7 hurt the most. I’ll never forget it. I can hardly remember the final

Dele is a depressed asset right now. Levy/ENIC are asset managers. You don’t need an MBA (not that this helps) to figure out you don’t sell depressed assets in a depressed market if you don’t have to.

Jose certainly doesn’t and to be honest he’s a luxury these days, because whatever skill set he has has been nullified by his head being up his arse for the last two years…

It wouldn’t matter who, or is the manager of our club. Doing the job with one hand tied behind your back as these owners do means nothing will change.

I’m far, far from being a Levy supporter.
But he’s correct here. Prices will rise, even for Dele. The market is seriously depressed because many if not most clubs are in dire financial straits. French league might collapse altogether. Barcelona are skint. Etc. Once this pandemic subsides, market will improve.

Two reasons:

1 – We need cover with Lo Celso injured. Tanguy can’t play every match, and nobody else in the squad aside from Lamela has any creativity in midfield, aside from Dele. That leaves us very light, since we all know Lamela is perpetually 1-2 appearances from being injured again and we’re still in 3 competitions.
.
2 – Transfer market is very depressed at the moment, prices will rise by summer as fans return and clubs’ financial pictures become clear. Probably makes more financial sense to sell him in summer, to the point where the increase in sales price will cover his wage bill for the next 6mo, ten times over.

Not much in it beyond those two, imo. Too bad for us, and him, that Lo Celso is crocked. Otherwise, he’d be eating croissants and crepes with Poch this morning, maybe warm them up on the “he’s magic you know” BBQ grill and relive those glory days of getting embarassed 7-2 by Bayern.

My long winded point. Plus, we have the Gedson F spot that could have been fast track to get him on his way. Hogwash it is!!!

How do we square an excuse of getting a player, as a contributor or a number, cause Alli right now is just a number in the EPL. I do not buy it. I think we could have tap the academy and not send Harvey white out if we are worried about the cups. PSG from what i see circulating would have gone for a loan spell and maybe try to cash in on his falling value. I think that mighr be what spook Levy.

even if it gets really bad he will be kept while we are in the europa – thats our only hope unless things turn around quick…Levy needs to back him, there are NO MORE managers left, is there?

I wouldn’t put Celso in that list, we should’ve bought Bruno instead but he’s a decent signing, the injury problem is however starting to get silly…I would also keep Sissoko for the time being (unless replaced) and Stevy deserve time….Levy needs to learn how to sell and when…

A manager like Jose would’ve had a replacement in mind. Dele’s a busted flush and in transfer terms not actually worth much. Borne out the fact nobody else banged on the door

All things considered, poor performances , another transfer window missed. Levy never taking any blame. I’d say Jose’s out the door if we lose tomorrow night.

The problem we have is alli is here till at least the summer. The next problem we have is lamela, moura, sissoko, bergwyn, winks and le celso (injured new lamela) are not in the same class as alli when he was playing at his best. In a instant alli can make a pass and score a goal which none of the others can do. He was called out by mourinho and he didn’t like it but it needed doing as he was competing with eriksen for most invisible player. We have no one in the team (fit) who can be the player he once was the question for mourinho and more importantly alli is can he be that guy again. Something has to happen because with Kane le celso reggie all out and sonny turning into alli brother and bergwyn unable to score we have serious serious problems and no manager in the world could fix this. I think old alli could unlock the midfield problem which is what levy is hoping for like I said question is can he or does he even want to for spurs.

The whole story that Alli was not allowed to leave is yet another in a long line of Levy deadline day smokescreens. To say that a last minute replacement couldn’t be found is ludicrous as everyone has known for months that a PSG loan was on the cards this window even before Pochettino came into the picture. Levy had no intention of letting him go because he can’t come to terms with Alli’s plummeting value and lives in hope that by some kind of miracle his fortunes will recover. The excuse that Kane’s injury also influenced Levy’s thinking is even more implausible. How could he possibly expect a player who struggles to get a place on the bench to be considered as a Kane replacement? This cobblers is right up there with all the we must sell before we can buy rubbish we have heard for years.
