Report: Tottenham revisiting interest in Brighton & Hove Albion’s £30M rated midfielder

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur is keen on improving their midfield this summer, and with a £150-million cash injection, the north London club will have the find to strengthen that area on the pitch.

According to The Times (via TeamTalk), Spurs have renewed their interest in Brighton & Hove Albion FC midfielder Yves Bissouma. In January, Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici inquired about the 25-year-old.

However, Bissouma only has one year on his deal; The Seagulls might be open to selling and getting a fee rather than having him leave on a free transfer. When it comes to the price, The Times states that Tottenham could have to pay in the neighborhood of £30-million.

The midfielder appeared in 28 fixtures for Brighton & Hove Albion this past season, scoring two goals and two assists. When it comes to the position he will occupy should he move to north London, Bissouma spent most of his time as a defensive midfielder.

If I was looking to Brighton’s squad for potential signings, I’d target Marc Cucurella who has arguably been one of the breakout players last season. He’s not an experienced left wingback, but he definitely looks the type of who would flourish under a manager like Conte.

I didnt realise he was playing DM against us (only saw the Cup game). I thought he looked quite creative and skilfull.
However I have heard mention of his off field problems as a real negative.

I like this guy, he’s probably be my second choice behind Ward-Prowse who is presumably going to be more difficult to prise away.

My only concern is whether this guy scores enough goals. It’s a trait that is missing from our 2 CM – for me spending the extra 20-30m it might take to get JWP would be better – someone in the middle who can play those “Harry Kane” style passes, plus we’d also be dangerous from set pieces at long last!

Would be my top target, played well against us and has made a over-performing Brighton tick. He’s ready to roll in the PL.

He’s got the energy and drive were missing in the middle. Bentancur and Hojbjerg have their qualities but neither boasts that.

This guy is very good. Buying him would be another step in the right direction. Send Winks the other way, Potter will work his magic on him.
