Tottenham Hotspur has already added to improve their left wing-back with the arrival of Ivan Perišić. Now the north London club will be focusing on their right side as they look for an upgrade there too.

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs are renewing discussions with Middlesbrough for full-back Djed Spence as they look to secure a deal with a £16-million fee heading the other way to the Championship side.

Initial talks were unsuccessful between the two parties in finding an agreement as Middlesbrough wants at least £15-million plus add-ons. Nonetheless, Tottenham is prepared to make a new approach, with the 21-year-old also determined to join Antonio Conte’s squad this summer.

Coming off a successful 2021-22 season, where Spence played a role in Nottingham Forest’s promotion to the Premier League, various clubs in England’s top tier have focused on him for a possible move.

Last season, Spence made 50 appearances for The Reds, scoring three goals and recording five assists.

there has already been talk of his position being one Spurs will seek to upgrade this summer.
Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence is their primary transfer target at present.
Sky Sports revealed the £5m discrepancy in the two clubs’ respective valuations that has prevented a breakthrough thus far. Boro want £15m prior to add-ons, while Spurs value the player at closer to the £10m mark.
However, Spurs supremo Daniel Levy has reportedly personally intervened to accelerate proceedings.

So the usual suspect is the reason the transfer has bogged down? doesn’t wanna waste any of that £150m warchest?
