Report: Tottenham interested in Stade Rennais’ £14M star forward

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur wants to improve their forward group by adding more depth behind Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. The north London club began that process with the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski this past winter transfer window.

However, they’re not ready to stop there. According to Foot Mercato, Spurs really like Stade Rennais forward Martin Terrier. Furthermore, the French media outlet states that Spurs have even sent a proposal to secure a possible deal this summer.

Nonetheless, Rennes could see Champions League football next season, so they’re considering whether to keep Terrier for next season should they play in Europe’s top competition.

The French club sits in fourth place, but if they win their last match against Lille OSC and Olympique de Marseille loses their game, Rennes would slot into the Champions League qualifier spot. The decision would then become hard to sell Terrier to a team like Spurs.

The 25-year-old is a versatile player who can play on the left-wing and as a striker. Terrier has made 45 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, scoring 21 goals and seven assists.

When it comes to a possible price, Transfermarkt puts his value at £14-million as he’s also under contract until 2025.

Watkins at Villa? Can play across the front line, adds to the homegrown quota.

It’s one thing to get promoted to the PL but entirely different to being courted by a club also offering CL football. They would come don’t worry. It’s all a question of whether Levy wants to play ball.

Well he won’t want to go back that’s for sure. Though I thought last night he found it hard going, will be tougher in the PL.

Wonder if Pool would part with Origi? He hardly ever plays for them with their front 3 rotation. He has a knack of scoring goals in important games.

This is the thing ..you can rule out players from the CS Top 3..I reckon..though Spence could be prized away from Boro his home club, he is keen to move on according to reports.
Think Diaz would be a great back up striker ..and for domestic cup competitions just can’t see the point of another French punt.

Forest have some good youngsters too; Spence and Johnson for example, but if they get promoted they won’t want to part with them for anything.

Definite no to French league gambles – how many more times do we want to get burnt by this approach. Along with the Dutch league it’s for the most part an inferior league. These targets will most likely struggle in the PL, they are playing at a lower level.
Eventually we’re going to have to find some good homegrown talent too, look to the top C-Ship sides.
