Tottenham Hotspur wants to improve their forward group to add another player to help their squad in the goal-scoring department. The north London club has had their name linked to various wingers and strikers and the latest is a Canadian that’s having a great season in France.
According to TSN Sports, Tottenham Hotspur is among several European clubs eyeing Lille OSC forward Jonathan David. The Candian media outlet adds that David hasn’t narrowed his list of preferred destinations and is “open” to every possibility.
This season, the 22-year-old has made 29 appearances for the Ligue 1 club scoring 16 goals for the French club. Since arriving in 2020, David has made 77 appearances for Lille, scoring 29 goals and registering five assists.
Along with Tottenham, the other clubs eyeing the Canada international are Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Chelsea. However, don’t expect a January transfer window move as Lille is in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
Furthermore, his agent, Nick Mavromaras, spoke with TSN last week, stating David would “benefit from a summer move.” Mavromaras adds that he and his client discuss a list of questions to ask possible suitors.
I have never heard of this kid but looking at his stats on wikipedia over the past 4 seasons at Gent and Lille, they are very good. Far far superior to N’Jie and N’koudo. So worth investigating I think. HH needs to find a youtube highlight reel for us to look at.
Yes our track record in terms of signings from Ligue 1 is appalling. N’Jie, Nkoudo, NDombele, Stambouli, Aurier. Hugo and to a lesser extent BAE are the notable exceptions.
French league is a decidedly risky league to buy players from.
