Report: Tottenham ‘getting closer’ to signing, transfer ‘likely to go through next week’

By Saikat -

Talented young left-back Destiny Udogie is closing in on a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

According to a report from Sky Italia, the 19-year-old is now ‘getting closer and closer to becoming a new Tottenham player’ and the two clubs are set to finalise an agreement worth around €26 million.

Spurs will pay a fixed sum of around €20 million for the youngster and the remainder of the fee will be paid in bonuses.

Tottenham have already signed a talented young right back in Djed Spence and it seems that Antonio Conte is keen on adding more depth to his left-back position as well.

It is fair to assume that Udogie will be behind the likes of Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon in the pecking order. The likes of Sergio Reguilon have been heavily linked with a move away from the North London club this summer and Udogie could be his replacement.

The youngster is highly rated in the Italian league and a world-class manager like Antonio Conte will be hoping to help him fulfil his tremendous potential.

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old will need to play regularly in order to continue his development and he will remain on loan at Udinese even after the transfer is completed so that he can get ample game time this season.

Italian outlet Calciomercato believes that the ‘deal is likely to go through next week’.
