Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on the Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
The 27-year-old has struggled for regular game time at the Premier League club and he needs to move on in search of more first-team action.
A report from Gazzetta Dello Sport via SportWitness claims that Tottenham are now in the front row to sign the player. Yesterday Sky Sports claimed that Manchester United are keen on signing the England international during the January window as well.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can beat Manchester United in the race to sign the player. The 27-year-old joined Manchester City for a fee of £45 million and he was expected to establish himself as a key player for them. The transfer has clearly not worked out and the Premier League champions might be open to selling the player for the right price.
Tottenham could look to part ways with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the coming weeks and Phillips would be a quality alternative. He has proven himself in the Premier League with Leeds United and he is used to playing in a high-intensity attacking system.
A move to Tottenham could help him get his career back on track.
As far as Manchester United are concerned, Casemiro has been quite underwhelming this season and the Red Devils might need an alternative soon. The 27-year-old Manchester City midfielder could be a key player for them if he can get back to his best.
