Report: Tottenham, Atlético Madrid vying for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez

By Eddie Razo -

Last summer, Tottenham Hotspur was reportedly interested in Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez. With rumors linking Harry Kane to Manchester City, Spurs were ready to make a move on a potential replacement.

Nonetheless, the north London club is ready to resume its pursuit of the Argentine striker. In an interview with Wettfreunde, Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio gave the latest on Martinez possibly leaving Inter Milan this summer.

He adds that if the offer is high enough for their liking, they’ll let Martinez depart without any hassle due to Inter Milan’s financial situation. Last summer, the Italian side saw Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi leave for high transfer fees.

“I think Inter will let Lautaro go because of the economic situation if the offer is high. Inter showed last summer that they sell important players when they have to,” Di Marzio said.

“But the offer should be very, very high. Romelu Lukaku went for €113-million, Hakimi for €70-million. So they won’t sell Lautaro for less than €70-million.”

Di Marzio states that should the 24-year-old leave the Serie A side, the ideal candidates would be Tottenham and Atlético Madrid. The transfer window specialist says the Spanish club is the favorite, but Tottenham club chief Fabio Paratici is enamored by the players.

“I think it could be Lautaro’s summer, and Atlético Madrid or Tottenham could be the perfect destinations for him,” Di Marzio said.

“But I know that he would like to go to Madrid. He is happy at Inter and was convinced of his contract extension. But if he had to choose another club, it would be Atlético Madrid with Simeone.”

This guy is being looked at by top clubs. Don’t fret about him as we have a snowballs chance in hell of him signing up. Levy doesn’t win bidding wars. Hence N’Fatso.

I don’t doubt the player’s ability, what concerns me is his commitment to this club should he decide to sign, as it appears the Argies we have currently, seem to disappear for a month or so through the season which is not right somehow, and needs addressing.
