Tottenham Hotspur are set to sign Dejan Kulusevski on a permanent deal this summer.
The 23-year-old Swedish footballer was one of Antonio Conte’s first signings at Spurs, having arrived in January on loan from Juventus last year.
Kulusevski made an immediate impact for Tottenham, scoring five goals and assisting eight in only 18 league games, helping the club beat Arsenal to secure the final Champions League spot.
However, this season, the player has been hampered by injuries and has struggled to replicate his form from last season.
He has only scored two goals and provided seven assists in 27 games across all competitions.
Recently, there were doubts about Kulusevski’s future at Tottenham after Conte’s sacking, with reports suggesting that the club might not sign him on a permanent deal due to failing to finish in the top four.
However, according to the latest reports, the club is keen on signing him on a permanent deal and is set to activate the £30.5million clause.
The Evening Standard claims that ‘Spurs will sign’ the Swede in the summer.
The interim manager, Ryan Mason, was full of praise for Kulusevski during his press conference earlier today.
He stated (via Evening Standard):
“The general feeling is that Deki is a Tottenham player, so those conversations, like many other conversations about other players, will come at the end of the season.”
Mason also expressed his admiration for the young attacker’s skills, saying:
“I love Deki as a player. I think he’s got so much room to grow and be a top, top player, even though he already is a top, top player.”
He added that competition for places is always present in a club like Tottenham, but Kulusevski has been an important asset to the team even when he has been on the bench.
If Tottenham successfully secures Kulusevski on a permanent deal this summer, it would be a significant boost to the team’s attacking options as they look to improve their performance next season.
