Report reveals Tottenham have ‘tried to get closer’ to winger Antonio Conte likes

By Saikat -

Tottenham have been linked with a move for the Roma youngster Nicola Zalewski.

The 20-year-old managed to break into the first team scene at the Italian club last season and he impressed Jose Mourinho with his performances.

A report from Corriere Dello Sport claims that Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham are interested in signing the talented young winger this summer but Roma are unwilling to sanction his departure. Furthermore, Mourinho rates the player highly and he has a long-term contract with the Italian giants.

Zalewski has a contract with Roma until the summer of 2025 and therefore they are under no pressure to cash in on him this summer.

His suitors will probably have to pay well over the odds in order to tempt Roma and it seems highly unlikely that Tottenham will break the bank on an unproven youngster, especially when they have a number of wide players at their disposal.

The report from Corriere Dello Sport claims that ‘PSG and Tottenham tried to get closer’ to the player this summer but their approaches have now been rebuffed.

The report further states that Tottenham manager Antonio Conte likes the player very much but a move the summer is highly unlikely.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to return for the youngster next summer.
