By Mehdi Gokal -

According to The Times, Newcastle wanted to sign Hugo Lloris from Tottenham on deadline day but the player turned down the offer.

As per the report Newcastle made a move to bring the World Cup winner to St James Park on a season long loan.

But it is said that the player decided to turn down the move where he would be back up for Nick Pope.

The veteran goalkeeper was linked with a number of clubs since the start of the summer transfer window but failed to agree a deal with any.

Some of the clubs that showed interest in signing him included Al Hilal, Nice, Lazio, Inter among others.

He has one year left in his current contract with Spurs but he is not in Ange Postecoglou’s plans who has already signed Guglielmo Vicario as his replacement.

The player has publicly started his desire to leave and the club are keen on moving him too.

In fact, the manager has confirmed that he will not be included in the final squad that will be registered for the upcoming season.

There are some reports now suggesting thst the club might end up terminating his contract

Lloris has been a loyal servant to Tottenham throughout his career, but his age and a season marked by several high-profile mistakes has led to the club making the decision to replace him.

The 36-year-old is undoubtedly a club legend and Spurs fans will always remember him fondly for his 11 years at the club.
