Report makes bold claim about Tottenham’s Vinicius plans

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham signed Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica in the summer as they looked for a backup striker to Harry Kane.

The Brazilian had lit up the Portuguese league last season and landing him was seen as a major coup.

Given Kane’s injury history in the last few seasons, the Lilywhites were hoping to have someone that they can rely on when he becomes unavailable.

The loanee has hardly had the chance to play in the Premier League, but he has returned goals in the cup competitions, including the Europa League.

Spurs agreed to sign him permanently for £38m if everything goes to plan, but Football Insider is reporting that it will not happen.

The report says there is no appetite at the club to make his move permanent and certainly not at that price.

He has scored nine goals in all competitions for Tottenham this season, but the goals have come in the cup competitions and against lower-level opponents.

Spurs can try to negotiate down Benfica’s asking price and get the deal sorted, but the report says even that is not being talked about at the moment.

The Lilywhites will instead look to add another forward to their team when this campaign ends.

Never seen him play a full match says it all mate. Unless you’re a football manager and know better.

Why have I hardly seen him play?

Umm, not sure why anyone would think I was keen on this player from my comment. Was just pointing out that ‘Probably won’t buy player who clearly isn’t very good’ may be a better caption…

Ever seen him play a full match? He used to be a midfielder. He knows the game. Watch some of his benfica games

I wouldn’t say 38 million was that cheap..same kind of price as Villa paid for their leading marksman, but granted English centre forwards nearly always command a premium. I think the biggest disappointment with Vinny is he doesnt do enough without the ball…seldom goes looking for it or makes darting runs in behind…not sure if thats due to language, team mates being unable to find him or just a lack of football intelligence…either way no way in the current climate is Levy going to spend that kind of money when midfield is a much bigger problem.

The day Kane retires or leaves will be a sad one.. Greavsey, Kane, they don’t come around often.. You’re right though, no man should be bigger than the club. He will definitely be gone in 8-10 years. Spurs will still be marching on.

He’s got his celebration sorted. He’s been practicing that arms crossed pose in the mirror.

I’m not sure he was loaned in to play in the Premier League, it was to take the pressure off of HK in the other competitions & I think he has done that to a certain extent.
First season, doesn’t speak the language, no pre-season, all the usual excuses.
But he’s scored 9 & a hat-trick, that’s more than Thicc Vin, Bobby Solider and a few others to probably.
But is he worth that sort of money? Na.
If we can get the price down or extend the loan, we don’t have to go find another backup for Harry.

Why wouldn’t you? You’ve hardly seen him play.

I think he is good enough to be a back up striker. It’s the language thing that’s holding him back right about now.

“year in year out? At the new lane? If Kane does leave (I don’t think he will) we’ll use the money to get 2 good strikers. Kane ain’t bigger than tottenham

If Harry remains we are never going to attract a ‘a grade ‘ striker .
surely plan B would be to deploy the forward players in a different formation/position – dele/son/Moura /bale up top when Kane rests.

Or give Scarlett/parrot a go .

blow all the budget on a world class centre half who leads/passes/organises and defends – wipes loris nose for him and feeds PEH raw meat.

bring back sess/skipp and get rid of a little dead wood .

top 4 done – progress.

If Mou doesn’t really ever trust him to start in the PL to rest Kane, then he’s not what we need. Certainly not at that price.

Harry has come (probably now past) the point where if the club continues to show no ambition then he has to get out. Yes, I know Levy won’t. I know because he proves it year in and year out. And if we lose Kane, then we will indeed be royally fackarooed. Make no mistake about it. That will put the brandy cream on top of the Levy fack pudding.

Aye that would be more accurate. Or a good deal for us… Do you think he’s good enough though? I’m not sure about him.. It’s games like tonight he should be playing. It seems Maureen doesn’t have faith.

Yeah I would return too.. Not sure if 38 million is a cheap punt though.. That’s dear.

You like Vinny do you? Want him to stay? His brief prem cameos he was non existent.. Personally I wouldn’t pay that price and would be targeting an upgrade. A striker who can play with and compliment Kane, as well as replace him.. A Vardy esq player would be ideal…. The Boy and Bruce can report what they like mate its their blog..

Yep. Levy will never fork out the money required to bring in a serious centre forward. When Harry decides he’s had enough of this nonsense and forces a move we’re facked. Totally fackarooed.

Clickbait headline! The reason I don’t look at other websites is because of total non-stories like this. Please don’t regurgitate them here. Leave this sort of thing to football.london, etc…

Return him. Not good enough for what we need. Another cheap punt option by Levy to solve a longstanding issue of cover for Kane who along with Son is being run into the ground once again.
