Tottenham defender Eric Dier is not in Ange Postecoglou’s immediate plans according to Football Insider.
The experienced defender has been shunned by new manager Ange Postecoglou who has not been impressed by the Englishman. He does not seem to have the Englishman in his plans.
Under Postecoglou’s management, the center-back pairing of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven has emerged as the preferred choice, with both players impressing and delivering solid performances at the heart of Tottenham’s defense.
Dier is left unhappy with his diminished role as he is yet to feature for Spurs this season and was not even been named in the squad that played Fulham in the League Cup despite the manager making 9 changes.
During the summer transfer window, reports circulated that Tottenham was open to selling Dier.
Various clubs, including Fulham and Bayern Munich, were linked with a potential move for the defender. Burnley even made a late bid for his services, which was ultimately rejected by Tottenham.
The North London club did part ways with several defenders during the summer, including Joe Rodon, Davinson Sanchez, and Japhet Tanganga.
However, despite Dier’s exclusion from Postecoglou’s immediate plans, his presence remains vital to provide depth and experience in the defensive ranks, especially given the recent departures.
Eric Dier’s journey at Tottenham began in 2015 when he joined the club from Sporting CP.
Over the years, he has been a consistent presence in the starting lineup under various managers, including Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, and Antonio Conte.
However, he has seen himself go down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou after failing to impress him.
