Tottenham Hotspur wants to improve their midfield, and one of the top targets that Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici has is perhaps reuniting with Juventus’ Weston McKennie.
According to Calciomercato, the Serie A side is willing to sell the 23-year-old and puts the price between €30-million and €35-million. However, Tottenham will have some competition for the American midfielder.
The Italian media outlet adds that West Ham United is a club also having an interest in McKennie. Juventus will likely want to see the two Premier League clubs get into a bidding war that allows them to get the maximum return for the midfielder.
Spurs did begin improving their midfield this past summer when they added Pape Matar Sarr from FC Metz but remained on loan for another season with the Ligue 1 side.
Nonetheless, Paratici wants to continue molding the position into his vision, and it will be interesting to see whether they want to spend the reported asking price on McKennie.
Bringing McKenna is still not going in the right direction. If PEH anchors the mid and Skipp is the young buck in need of growth where and how MCKenna going to solve the creative problem. Filling out the squad by moving Winks and Locelso makes sense, but getting in an energetic body does not solve our woeful creativity. We need be chasing a #8 not an affordable guy.
