Last summer, Tottenham Hotspur decided to jump into the French football transfer market when they landed Pape Matar Sarr from FC Metz. The teenager will be heading to north London this summer after spending another year with the Ligue 1 club.
Nonetheless, Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici wants to land another midfielder from France’s top-flight league as L’Équipe reports that Spurs and Arsenal are in a race to land Stade Rennais FC’s Lesley Ugochukwu.
The report states that The Gunners are in the lead to land the defensive midfielder over Tottenham; however, the two Premier League clubs also face competition from Borussia Dortmund.
Ugochukwu is under contract until 2024, so there’s no need for Rennes to sell the midfielder, so if they do sell the 18-year-old, it will be for a price that sees fit. The teenager has made 13 appearances in all competitions for the French club, scoring one goal for them.
