Tottenham Hotspur is keen on upgrading its wing-back situation this summer to strengthen the squad. The north London club is linked to various players who can fill this need for them, and one target that’s been reported is Bologna FC’s Aaron Hickey.
However, Spurs might have to cross the 19-year-old off their list of potential wing-back options. According to Calcio Napoli, there has been a strong interest from Arsenal for Hickey in the last hours.
The Bologna sports director Riccardo Bigon flew to London to meet with the executives from The Gunners to close out an agreement that’s between €20-million and €25 million for the Scotland international.
Relations between Bologna and Arsenal are excellent, as witnessed by the Takehiro Tomiyasu transfer last summer. For Hickey, there are now the final details to be filed before completing the transfer to north London.
Hickey has made 35 appearances this season for the Italian club, where he’s scored five goals and recorded one assist.
This is going to be an ongoing issue this Summer.
Either the press will publish “Spurs and Arsenil to pursue……” for multiple players or in real life it will be actually happening.
Similar targets but one of us will have the CL carrot.
