Report: Antonio Conte wants to reunite with his former Inter Milan defender

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur will be in the market to upgrade its center-back position. Eric Dier and Cristian Romero are the two guys manager Antonio Conte is leaning on this season. Still, the Italian tactician might want an upgrade over Ben Davies, who occupies the third slot in the back three.

As a result, Conte could be looking to reunite with a former player of his to fill that need in the starting eleven. According to Calciomercato, the 52-year-old is looking at his former club for defensive reinforcements.

Conte reportedly asks Tottenham to raid his old club for center-back Alessandro Bastoni, who might be available if Stefan de Vrij prolongs his contract.

The 22-year-old is under contract until 2024, and Transfermarkt puts the Italy international’s transfer value at £54-million. Bastoni has made 119 appearances for the Serie A side since arriving at Inter Milan in 2017.

It will be interesting to see if Conte can reunite with his former players to help strengthen the backline of Spurs.
