Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is one of the favorites to land the Manchester United job this summer. However, last year, the Dutch boss interviewed for the Tottenham Hotspur job, and the Daily Mail reports that the 52-year-old didn’t impress.
According to the information from the English media outlet, what was described as a lack of charisma. Furthermore, the north London club noted that ten Hag’s English was no more than acceptable.
Spurs also saw it strange that he only planned to bring one coach to the interview, Sjors Ultee, with him from Holland when most new managers come with their entourage.
Nonetheless, ten Hag wouldn’t land the position with Tottenham. Instead, Nuno Espirito Santo got the Tottenham job, and he would sign a new contract at Ajax.
The report also states that the Ajax boss has learned from this experience that ten Hag is taking advanced English lessons preparing to possibly land the Manchester United job.
Seeing as Nuno had all the charisma of an egg mayonnaise sandwich then I am guessing it wasn’t high on the wish list of managerial qualities and that someone is just being mischievous.
I wouldn’t have called Billy Nic or Keith Burkinshaw particularly charismatic..people just make sh-t up.

It was my understanding that the Dutch were the best speakers of English along with the Scandis and followed closely by the Americans.
And then to appoint “Mr Charisma” Nuno is weird maybe it was just desperation.
As for bringing your entourage I had no idea.
You are interviewing Conte not his backroom boys or girls. You see what he is made of and if you approve he can suggest who he brings.
I had no idea this was the process.
If this is true Levy’s office would have been overflowing with Conte’s massive entourage.
