Giovani Lo Celso has been linked with a move back to Real Betis but the Spanish club are yet to make an offer for the Tottenham star.
Lo Celso’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has been uncertain for a while now. The Argentine attacking midfielder could be on his way out in the summer after being frustrated by the lack of minutes.
The former Real Betis star was involved in 24 matches last term but he was on the pitch for less than 600 minutes. While Ange Postecoglou wanted him around for the 2023/24 season, he hasn’t handed him enough minutes. Meanwhile, with his contract running out in 2025, his future needs to be resolved in the coming weeks and Real Betis have been linked with him.
While talking to the media about the club’s plans moving ahead, Real Betis president Angel Haro has admitted that he likes Lo Celso and would love to have him at his disposal.
Haro said to Estadio Deportivo: “It is recurring every summer that Lo Celso’s name appears because we remember the good year he had here.
“However, now there is no proposal or offer. I like him, but there is nothing (so far).”
On the back of an exceptional season with Real Betis, Lo Celso made the move to Spurs in the summer of 2019. His move to the English club might not have gone according to plan but the Spanish club seem interested in bringing him back.
The Betis president believes Lo Celso ends up getting linked with a move back to Spain every year because they remember the work he had put in during his time at the club. It will be interesting to see if the Spanish club follow up on their interest with an official proposal in the coming weeks.
