RB Leipzig served us a damn good beating just before the Coronavirus crisis, dumping us out of the Champions League.
And the total postponement of football hasn’t stopped the Germans from pulling our pants down again, this time on social media.
Responding to a Twitter post asking fans to try to identify Dayot Upamecano from his childhood snaps, a Tottenham fan joked that the pictures showed “a future Spurs player”. The Daily Mail reported last month that we were among the clubs interested in signing the 21-year-old Frenchman.
Leipzig’s retort was savage, as you can see from the screenshot below.
“Spurs and a future…? This doesn’t add up?” Ouch. They didn’t hold back.
Richie46 walked into trouble because you can’t argue with Leipzig’s indication that the future is brighter for them than it is for us right now.
They won’t have the last laugh though. Their quick wit on social media isn’t going to save them when the big boys come calling for their star defender.
A joke with a jag. The beating they handed out reminded me of the pummelling we got from Benfica at WHL in the Europa League.
