The transfer saga surrounding Harry Kane has prompted Tottenham Hotspur to explore potential replacements, with Ivan Toney of Brentford catching their attention.
However, Toney’s availability on the pitch will be limited until mid-January 2024 due to a ban imposed by the FA for betting-related charges.
Despite the ban, recent reports suggest that Toney is considering a change in representation, with the possibility of hiring the CAA Stellar agency, hinting at his ambitions for a big move in the future.
Former footballer Darren Ambrose has weighed in on the situation, suggesting that if Kane departs, Tottenham should make a move for Ivan Toney.
Ambrose emphasised Toney’s abilities as a proven Premier League goalscorer and believes he could be a valuable addition to the squad once he becomes eligible to play in January.
Toney has a track record of scoring 20-plus goals in the Premier League.
Speaking to TalkSport, Ambrose said:
“Someone mentioned it last week, go and sign Ivan Toney. I know he can’t play until January, but you’ve got a proven Premier League goalscorer that can come into the team in January. 20-plus goals again.”

TBH Says:
This doesn’t sound like a bad idea, Toney for all his faults, does know where the back of the net is. That said, what is Daniel Levy basing his ticket pricing upon? Watching Tottenham is expensive, dearer than most premier League sides. What exactly are we paying for?
Spurs need to start spending. It’s what most big sides do. So chop chop.
