Pundit slams one Tottenham player despite comeback

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Manchester United in a game of two halves at Old Trafford.

The start to the game was reminiscent of their previous encounter against Newcastle, with Spurs conceding within the first 10 minutes.

Jadon Sancho scored a fantastic goal to give United the lead in the 7th minute. The home side then doubled their lead just before half-time, with Marcus Rashford capitalising on a counter-attack.

However, the second half saw a completely different Tottenham side emerge. Pedro Porro scored a stunning volley to pull one back for Spurs ten minutes into the second half.

And in the 79th minute, Son Heung-min scored the equaliser after a brilliant assist from Harry Kane.

Despite the positive performance in the second half, Eric Dier’s mistake in conceding the second goal is a reminder of Tottenham’s defensive woes.

Dier was criticised by fans and pundits alike for his role in Rashford’s goal, with former Spurs midfielder turned pundit Jamie O’Hara tweeting his frustration.

He tweeted: “Eric dier been offered a new contract 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️ this is so bad.”

The defender’s poor form highlights the need for Spurs to make changes to their back four in the summer transfer window.

The club has been linked with a number of center-backs, including Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan de Vrij, but any potential signings will depend on the identity of the permanent long-term manager.
