Pundit slams Levy for not hiring South American manager who is ‘made for Tottenham’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are still searching for a quality long-term replacement for Antonio Conte.

The North London giants appointed Cristian Stellini as the interim manager after Conte’s departure, but they have now decided to relieve him of his duties after the humiliating defeat against Newcastle United.

Former midfielder Ryan Mason has been put in charge of the first-team squad until the end of the season.

Tottenham have been linked with a number of managers including Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino.

Popular pundit Jamie O’Hara believes that Daniel Levy should have appointed Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s new manager.

The 51-year-old Argentine has had extended talks with Premier League rivals Chelsea regarding the managerial vacancy at Stamford Bridge and he is now expected to take over as a long-term replacement for Graham Potter.

O’Hara believes that Levy has made a mistake by not bringing the Argentine manager back to the club.

He added that Pochettino has unfinished business at the club. The 51-year-old knows the club well and he shares a close bond with a number of Tottenham players. Furthermore, he was a fan favourite during his previous spell at the club.

“He’s made for Tottenham. He has unfinished business and the only reason why he’s not going back is because Daniel Levy’s an idiot and he doesn’t want to go back on old ground because they fell out when he left”, he said on talkSPORT.

“That’s the only reason! It’s Daniel Levy’s fault!”

Pochettino helped Tottenham challenge for the league title and the UEFA Champions League previously, and he could have been the ideal manager to oversee another rebuild at the club.

The 51-year-old is used to working with Daniel Levy, and he has worked at clubs with limited financial resources. He would have been the ideal fit for Spurs.
