Pundit reckons that some Tottenham players are unhappy

By Bruce Grove -

Alan Hutton says Tottenham’s attacking players are unhappy and will look to leave the club because they are being made to do defensive work instead.

The Lilywhites made Jose Mourinho their latest manager, even though they know he doesn’t play attacking football.

The former Chelsea boss has won trophies at every team he has managed and his appointment showed that Tottenham is serious about winning titles.

However, he has been struggling to get a performance from his current Tottenham squad, which has led to speculation that he might be sacked.

Hutton says the only reason why he would be considered a success is if he ends this season in the top four and wins a trophy.

He then adds that the likes of Dele Alli, Gareth Bale, and Steven Bergwijn are unhappy and are desperate to leave the club because they are being asked to do too much defensive work.

“Look, he was brought in to win trophies, that was probably his remit, that and top-four,” Hutton told Football Insider.

“He’s in a (League Cup) final, can I see him winning it? Possibly, it’s a one-off game but Man City are heavy favourites.

“He’s in Europe but is struggling for top four. If he doesn’t win a trophy and they’re out that top four, that’s a failure, the decline has been massive from where they once were.

“So it’s going to be difficult, if you’re looking from a squad point of view, if you’re playing, you’re always happy because you’re playing but the way they are at the moment, if you’re an attacking player you’re not liking it, you’re doing a totally defensive shift.

“The likes of Bergwijn are getting questioned about his numbers, his stats but he’s playing at right-back and unhappy.

“You’ve got the likes of Bale who’s not happy and will go back to Madrid, Dele Alli’s desperate to get out and leave and Harry Kane, he’s going to start questioning it eventually.”

I’d say there’s not a club the world where some players aren’t happy. Certainly don’t need to be a genius to work that out.

BERGWYN has never played right back, apart from to bail out our current right back who is poor and making defensive mistakes. teams should defend as a unit and attack as a unit. Did hutton question how many chances and one on ones bergwyn has missed. Deli has been poor for 3 years and bale hasnt played for 2 years but all of a sudden its jose’s fault. what a crock of shite this article is

Funny you never hear that Liverpool or City’s forward players are unhappy having to press the opposition to win the ball back, only ours according to Alan Hutton.
