Pundit identifies two big problems for Tottenham boss Nuno

By Mark Brus -

It’s not been the easiest start to life at Tottenham for Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Portuguese tactician had a decent spell in charge of Wolves before moving on in the summer, but it would be fair to say he’s not really winning people over at Spurs so far.

Nuno did initially get off to a decent start, even picking up the Premier League Manager of the Month award for August, but it’s been all downhill from there.

Now Frank McAvennie suspects life is going to continue to be tricky for Nuno due to his struggles to get the best out of Harry Kane.

On top of that, the former West Ham man seems convinced that if Tottenham’s players aren’t enjoying the manager’s training sessions, it won’t be long before they turn on him if the team goes on another bad run of results.

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie said: “Nuno is still in bother.

“There are still loads of problems there. I have said before there is a problem with Kane and I stand by that.

“There were so many reports about the players turning on Nuno already.

“If that’s true, that won’t have gone away just because Spurs have won a few games.

“If they don’t like his training style and things like that, it will turn again.

“All it takes is a few losses and he’s back to where he was a few weeks ago.

“Football is a fickle game and that’s especially true for managers. As I say, they are still in trouble for me.”

This is undoubtedly a tricky situation for Spurs, who were very strongly linked with a number of other managers before eventually settling for Nuno.

It’s perhaps starting to show why he wasn’t the first choice, but one has to wonder if there’s any good to come from sacking him now, given that the club previously failed to bring in the other names that were targeted first.
