Premier League suspended until April 30, but season to be extended indefinitely…

It has been announced that English football will not resume until April 30 at the earliest amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The Premier League along with the other governing bodies in English football initially announced that all fixtures were on hold until April 3.

However, with cases and deaths continuing to rise in England over the past week with the expectation being that those unfortunate trends will continue, football has again been pushed back.

Tottenham had been scheduled to face Sheffield United on April 4, albeit that would also have depended on how the previous fixtures were rescheduled.

Nevertheless, with the latest announcement, the trip to Newcastle United on May 2 could be the next time that they take to the pitch, although it all now depends on the situation with the coronavirus outbreak.

Crucially though, as noted by Sky Sports, the season has been extended indefinitely which in turn will give hope that the campaign will be completed eventually, with the postponement of EURO 2020 giving domestic leagues more flexibility heading into the summer.

At least we should have a fully fit squad to choose from. Time for Mourinho to earn his money.

Frankly, whatever & however they deal with this season, it’s a write-off as far as I’m concerned. This level of interruption just voids any sort of commitment to it that I might have had. I can’t see its conclusion being anything more than a bureaucratic exercise.
