Premier League star urged to take the ‘next step’ and join Tottenham where ‘he’ll be loved’

Tottenham’s quest for a centre-forward continues as the transfer window approaches.

Spurs have been linked with several strikers from both England and Europe.

Among them is Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke emerging.

Alan Hutton, former Tottenham defender and BBC Radio 5 Live pundit, has voiced his support for Solanke joining the North London outfit this summer.

Solanke is currently under contract with Bournemouth until the summer of 2027, following his contract extension last September.

The former Liverpool striker had an outstanding season, finishing as the joint-fourth top scorer in the league alongside Phil Foden and Ollie Watkins. Solanke scored 19 goals and provided 3 assists in his 38 league appearances.

Speaking on Tottenham News, Hutton suggested that Solanke could be an ideal replacement for Harry Kane, who has been Tottenham’s main goal scorer.

He believes that Solanke has the potential to thrive at Spurs, filling the role of a 20-goal-a-season striker.

Despite not making England’s provisional squad for Euros, Solanke’s goal-scoring ability makes him a strong candidate for the Lilywhites.

Hutton also mentioned that under the management of Ange Postecoglou, Solanke would have the freedom to showcase his best football.

He remarked:

“I think he could fill that role.

“He’s had an outstanding season. He’s not made it into the England squad which he’s probably a little bit down about, but he scores goals, he holds the ball up, he links the play and he’s confident.

“Having come through at Chelsea, he’s moved on and he’s really thrived at Bournemouth. He’s done really well and this is probably the next step for him to go to a team like Tottenham where he’ll be loved and he’ll get that chance to go and play with freedom.

“He’d probably fit into that system very well in my opinion. Dejan Kulusevski played there against Sheffield United and scored two goals, Son looked electric out on the left so they have got options within there.

“So I think him coming into that squad could be that guy who is going to score the 20-plus goals that you need.”

With English top-flight experience, Solanke would provide Spurs with a dependable goal scorer, essential for Postecoglou as he aims to compete for the Premier League title next season.

Having developed at Chelsea and flourishing at Bournemouth, the 26-year-old has shown he can perform at a high level.
