Premier League side set to steal Tottenham transfer target Nikola Milenkovic

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur is on the verge of completing the transfer for Cristian Romero, who’s on his way to London to finalize the transfer to Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad. Despite landing the central defender, the Premier League side wants to continue fixing its backline this summer.

However, the London-based club could be crossing off another defender off its target list. The Daily Express reports that West Ham United are now the front-runners to sign Fiorentina center-back Nikola Milenkovic.

The move for the 23-year-old materialized after The Hammers held discussions with Chelsea FC over Kurt Zouma last week, but the Blues told West Ham they must increase their offer of £20-million if they wished to land the France international.

Instead of raising their offer, West Ham is looking elsewhere. They’ve also had serious interest in Milenkovic and have been since the January transfer window. However, Fiorentina is more open to selling the Serbian international while he is still of value as the defender enters the last year of his contract.

They were forty five years old and fell off cliff, they were that good together. Sanchez was brought, but seems like a headless chicken. I do not get it.roll back the 3 years and look at Toby and Jan production, it was unmatched. We all thought they have more years in them until the wheels starting to fall off and Sanchez and Dier gave us nothing. Team do not up and get rid of their most experienced backs overnight.

Because you said so. City signed Ake because of his left foot. How did it work out. When you sign a centerback that can keep the attackers in front it does not matter what foot you use. If you are a centerback and lack laterally movement, maybe wingback is your best position. Team who do not rely on their wingbacks so high in the attack does not need special wrenches at center back.

It will be interesting to see how quickly Leicester act in getting another defender now that Fofana has a broken leg.I don’t doubt they will put us to shame.

Agree. Heard Guillem Balague say that the market is incredibly slow especially in Europe. So who in their right mind would pay what Levy wants for Sanchez, or any of the other duds.

Unfortunately that is the problem we have, nobody wants our dross and we are stuck with them, especially as Levy prices them out of a sale.

I fully expect pretty much the same squad with one or two additions, but nowhere near enough to make any real difference.

We already have a genuine defending CB in Joe Rodon, he needs to play.

I’d like to sign him, left footed and comfortable with the ball, him and Tomiyasu would give us a solid back line.

We never replaced Vertonghen and now Alderweireld has gone too we have room to sign Milenkovic, we also need to sign Tomiyasu, we would need to out Sanchez, Dier, Aurier or Doherty though to accommodate him.

If we let West Ham sign Milenkovic, Levy will regret that, at his price Milenkovic would make the perfect foil for Romero and Tomiyasu, either in pairs or as a three. Levy do not let him get away.

Whether Wet Spam are genuinely the front runners for Milenkovic is a debatable point. Only last week they were preoccupied with Kurt Zouma, who would seem to be their top target. We in turn were fully focused on the Romero deal. However, as the Romero deal is now all but complete, we can turn our attention back to our additional targets and another centre back has been widely reported as being one of those targets, with Milenkovic top of the list.

A deal for Milenkovic will be dependent on us shipping out our Colombian mishap Davinson to pastures new, which deal may be intertwined with the Chavs pursuit of Kounde from Sevilla. I also read that the Pikeys alleged pursuit of the Serbian was being conducted through ‘intermediaries’, whereas with Paratici’s Italian connections we have no such complications. Therefore my guess is that if we really want Milenkovic the old Irons are going to come off second best!
