Postecoglou set to hand 23-year-old Tottenham lifeline amid injury crisis

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are going through a bit of an injury crisis right now and they are without a number of key first-team players.

Midfielders James Maddison and Rodrigo Bentancur were already sidelined with injuries and now Giovani Lo Celso is set to miss the game against Everton with a knock.

In addition to that, Yves Bissouma has been banned for the next four matches after picking up a red card against Nottingham Forest. The Malian will head to the African Cup of Nations in January, along with his Tottenham teammate Pape Matar Sarr.

That has left the Tottenham midfield lacking in depth and a report from Evening Standard claims that Ange Postecoglou is now ready to hand an opportunity to Oliver Skipp.

Tottenham are forced to dig deep into their squad for options and the England under-21 international could be handed a lifeline now.

Skipp has started just two games under the new manager this season and he will be hoping to get his career back on track with regular football now. It remains to be seen whether he can convince Postecoglou that he is good enough to start regularly. He was a valued member of the squad under Antonio Conte.

There is no doubt that the 23-year-old has the ability to succeed in the Premier League. Tottenham fans will certainly hope that he can step up and produce consistent performances in the coming weeks, especially in the absence of several key players.
