Postecoglou not keen on 28-year-old Tottenham ace, top-four rivals could pounce

By Saikat -

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou doesn’t count on Giovani Lo Celso moving ahead, Aston Villa could offer him a way out.

Giovani Lo Celso’s future has been up in the air since the start of the transfer window. While he did play a part in the absence of James Maddison last season, the Argentine international has no future at Tottenham. According to Ole via SportWitness, Ange Postecoglou doesn’t count on the former Real Betis star for the 2024/25 season and Aston Villa could look to make the most out of this situation.

Lo Celso was involved in 24 matches last season but he was on the pitch for less than 600 minutes which suggests that he was not an important part of their team. With the midfielder’s contract running out in 12 months, Spurs have been looking to get him off their books but they haven’t had much luck yet. With just over a week left in the transfer window, Tottenham continue to look for a new destination for the 28-year-old who was left out of their squad for their opening Premier League game against Leicester City.

The Argentine international is also pushing for a move away and since he is not in Posectoglou’s plans Aston Villa could look to sign him for a cut-price fee. They are interested in the midfield star who has worked under Unai Emery during his time at Valencia. Lo Celso had a decent stint under the Spanish manager back in the day and he would love to reunite with him at Villa who have an exciting project in their hands. His versatility could be very useful for Emery’s team but a deal won’t be that straightforward with Daniel Levy expected to look for a decent fee.
