Ange Postecoglou was left thrilled with teenage sensation Archie Gray’s performance against Ferencvaros.
Tottenham made it five wins in a row as they managed to get the better of Ferencvaros in matchday 2 of their Europa League campaign. They have completely turned things around after a slow start and a lot of credit has to go to their boss Ange Postecoglou who has stuck to his ideas despite all the criticism.
The Australian manager made quite a few changes to their XI for this European fixture. He handed out starts to a few of their young stars. Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Will Lankshear and Mikey Moore all started the game and managed to put in impressive performances in their 2-1 win. Postecoglou was particularly pleased with Gray’s performance.
During his post-match press conference, the former Celtic boss talked highly about Gray’s ability to adapt to different roles.
He said to Football London: “I thought Archie Gray was brilliant today. We asked him to play two different positions and he just adapts and handles it.”
The teenager who is well known for his ability to feature as a full-back as well as in the centre of the park, started this game as a centre-back. He did an exceptional job under pressure and Postecoglou was quite impressed with him. His ability to shift between roles earned him high praise from the Australian manager.
Given the kind of start he has had to his Tottenham career, the 18-year-old looks destined for greatness. His versatility has already been quite useful to Postecoglou and he will only get better with time. The North London club are gearing up to face Brighton away from home in the Premier League and Gray will be hopeful of getting another chance to impress his manager.
