Postecoglou has identified 14-goal ace as ‘the right profile’, Spurs could offer £300k-a-week

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a surprise move for the Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

The 30-year-old Belgian international was on loan at Inter Milan last season and he is expected to leave Stamford Bridge permanently this summer.

Initially, there were rumours that he could join Inter Milan permanently but the player has failed to secure a move to the Italian club. He has been linked with clubs like Juventus as well.

A report from Football Transfers claims that Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou admires the 30-year-old striker and he wants to sign the player on a loan deal until the end of the campaign. The Australian believes that Lukaku has ‘the right profile’.

Lukaku is reportedly looking to secure a permanent exit from Chelsea and wants to join a club on a lucrative contract. The Belgian reportedly wants a five-year deal worth around £400,000 a week.

On the other hand, Tottenham could look to offer him a contract worth around £300,000 for one season.

Lukaku has the quality and experience to fill the void left by Harry Kane. The England international has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich and the German outfit will look to secure his services soon.

Kane is in the final year of his contract and Tottenham are powerless to stop him from leaving this summer. They will not want to lose him on a free transfer next year.

It makes sense for Tottenham to sell the player for a substantial amount of money this summer and invest the proceeds from the sale into the playing squad.

Lukaku scored 14 goals across all competitions last season and he could be a useful option for Tottenham if he manages to regain his form and sharpness. He has proven himself in the Premier League in the past and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince him to join them on loan.
