Postecoglou closing in on first Tottenham signing, ‘developments expected soon’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on the capture of David Raya from Brentford.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper has been linked with a move to the North London club for a while now, and it seems that they are finally close to securing his signature.

Journalist Rudy Galetti has revealed on Twitter that the deal will be worth around €20-€35 million and developments are expected soon.

Tottenham needed a quality goalkeeper to replace Hugo Lloris and the Spanish shot-stopper should prove to be a superb acquisition. Raya is clearly one of the best keepers in the league right now and he would certainly improve Tottenham.

Lloris cost Tottenham valuable points this past season with his error-prone performances and he’s no longer good enough to start for the North London club regularly.

He could still be an important squad player for them at his leadership qualities will be valuable for the team.

Meanwhile, Raya is at the peak of his powers and he deserves to play for a bigger club. He is unlikely to be able to compete for trophies with Brentford and he will feel that a move to Tottenham will be the ideal step up in his career.

Although Spurs have missed out on Champions League football they have a talented squad and they have brought in an exciting new manager. The North London outfit will fancy their chances of getting back into the top four and competing for the trophies in the upcoming season.
