Popular pundit warns ‘Conte will have no fears’ dropping struggling Spurs star

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-Min has made a disappointing start to the Premier League campaign this season.

The 30-year-old attacker has just one assist in six league appearances so far and he has failed to find the net in 493 minutes of Premier League action.

The South Korean international is undoubtedly one of the best players around Europe and his inability to get on the scoresheet has been a concern for the London club so far.

Spurs have been overly reliant on Harry Kane for goals so far and it will be interesting to see if Son can step up and get back into his goalscoring groove soon.

The Tottenham star had an exceptional season last year and he scored 23 goals and picked up nine assists in the Premier League.

A player of his ability will be expected to score regularly and popular pundit Frank McAvennie has warned that Antonio Conte would have no problems dropping the player if he continues to perform poorly.

He said to Football Insider: “Conte will have no fears of dropping anyone, not a chance. He’s one of the top managers in the world, there is not a chance that he’ll have any qualms about leaving any player out. I think he’d even drop Kane if he wasn’t doing it.“

Spurs invested big money on Richarlison earlier this summer and the Brazilian has impressed with his cameos so far. The 25-year-old will fancy his chances of forcing his way into the starting lineup because of Son’s current performances.
