Poch’s 5-Year-Old Dream Set to Come True?

Mauricio Pochettino is tipped for the PSG job, with the bookies making Poch just 1/5 in the betting to replace the recently-sacked Thomas Tuchel, with Max Allegri second-favourite at 7/1. Add to this, quotes have emerged from 2016 when the former Spurs gaffer was talking to RMC Sport. Pochettino made 70 appearances for PSG across 2001/2003, scoring 4 goals.

If even just a few of the tales surrounding this yet to be declared done deal come true, then the Argentine’s appointment will cause a footballing tsunami; all manner of activity is being ‘predicted’ by journalists who believe that Dele Alli will suddenly team up with Lionel Messi in France, and that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will start sleeping properly again.

Elsewhere, Tuchel is just 4/1 to make the Arsenal dugout his next port of call, although a return to Borussia Dortmund seems most likely as things stand at 3/1.

I tale a view that Pochettino has been linked with numerous managerial roles since being fired by Tottenham, and if this one were to pass him by, questions would have to be asked, even by those perpetuating the bizarre revisionism surrounding the Spurs boss that won nothing.

No manager for PSG, Beyern, Barca, Midrid o Juventus are being hired to win their domestic leagues. Only in the premier league managers are geniuses to make the top 4.All the teams I name hire a manager to win big one, the champion league. The disparity in those leagues are so great, it is a guarantee certain clubs will qualify. So, unless Poch win the CL he will joint many with silverware but no CL, marching orders in 2 years.

You were there then too.. That match was one of many examples where he had no plan B.. He would attempt to change formations slightly at times but that was it. It was high press or die. Alot of teams were finding us out by simply playing long balls cutting out our possession based midfield altogether.. Subs were always too little too late… Under Botch it was far too much sideways and backwards with the ball.. Not being efficient or direct enough.. The football in the last two seasons was painful, apart from the CL run, which was down to individual brilliance from the likes of Lucas.

That and the heaviest ever European battering at home that will live with tottenham forever.

Good stuff.. Finally Botch and his staff are off the wage books… They were still getting paid loads.. Now that money can go towards a player or some good for the club.. He was happy to wait 14 months because he was still getting paid guys.. And some spurs fans still think hes the messiah.. Botch couldn’t manage an orgy in a brothel.

Plus one… It’s the least desired cup… But it’s still desirable over absolutely nothing… Winning it would breed confidence among the lads. Give them belief. Before winning bigger and better and more.

You can’t be ‘head and shoulders’ above all the rest and win absolutely nothing in 6 years.. Wigan birmingham and the goons were winning you’re right about that at least… Of course he failed with Kane and co in his ranks. The game is about winning. This is why Walker Tintin Trips all wanted out.. The only measure of a team is what titles have they won. League or cups… Coming third in a two horse race was no miracle.. Cups are not meaningless at all.. So all of spurs cup titles since 1962 have been meaningless? We were nicknamed the ‘cup kings’ when we held the record for most fa cup wins.. United and Arsenal have won it more than us now… You clearly have no understanding of football, the game is about winning titles and being the best… Not third place……… Botch had the chance to win the league cup in his first season… He left Dembele on the bench yet again I was furious. He only played him 9 or 10 times that season… Miracle worker hey? Sir Alex and Jose are miracle workers… Not Botch.

All that league success ! I must’ve been in a coma after a bang on the head I received in 2010.

Please, remind me exactly what league success you speak of ? I dreamt we were nailed on for second place then managed to come third, being beaten to second by our biggest rivals. I think we came second to a club called Leicester when truth be known that was the season we had our best chance of actually winning it.

For a team who won the most lost the fewest, scored more and conceded less. We won what exactly ?

Success you fool is about what you win, leagues & cups domestic and foreign are what quantify a team/club/managers success.

He’ll win at least a couple of trophies there so for him personally gets his CV looking a lot more competitive…but he might still be a relative disappointing appointment for PSG

Arsenal job at this point is the ultimate poisoned chalice – you’re stitched up the minute you walk through the door after that criminally mismanaged squad and wage bill

You’re doing all the “saying. I just said if he failed at arsenal like he did at spurs “it wouldn’t be a good look.

A failure? You clearly have no understanding of football! You think Woolwich winning the FA Cup this year made them a good team? Or Wigan? Maybe Chelsea were the best team in Europe when they won the champions league?

Poch performed miracles with the finances that were available to him!

The only measure of a team is league success, spurs over two seasons were head and shoulders over every single team! Won more games, lost fewest, scored more and conceded less!

Forget meaningless cups, all they give you is five minutes of glory.

Being a failure at two big London clubs (consecutively) wouldn’t be a good look for him. Ask AVB. His best bet is to runaway for a bit.

I’d like to see him go there. Given its an easier league than the PL we have to assume that IF Poch is indeed as good as some think he’d win a trophy pretty quickly. He certainly won’t have the money constraints he had with us.

Personally I won’t be betting anything on his success.

Not saying Poch can’t do it but given that his predecessors have all tried and failed it’s clearly a tough ask!!
