Pochettino Is Suddenly Now The Tough Guy Coach

By The Boy -

The former Spurs coach has apparently been caught screaming at his new charges at PSG. The team had just returned from the Christmas break, but the players were in for an extensive session.

The report notes how Pochettino began to lay down his stature on the team as in one instance, the manager yelled out to the side to “Stop laughing, this is training!”

The Argentine manager kept this approach throughout the day with the team… READ MORE at PSG TALK

Hilariously after the stadium was built, Levy said all focus is now on the team.. Botch brought in three of his players for big money and wages… And it was then when we really fell apart. We were rubbish and our three new boys were all injured or not good enough..

Lets be honest about the facts… The first eleven were close to a billion pounds worth when the stadium build started. Mostly a team Botch inherited. In the 5 years previous to this he bought 27 players and sold or released nearly 40. How is a 5 year tenure ‘not being backed’.. In all this time he won nothing, even stoke and Birmingham picked up pots… Hoorah for top four but the real reason we have been up there all this time is because of one man Harry Kane. He carried us under Botch… I could write a book on Botchs mistakes, being patsy like, strange decisions, wrong decisions, throwing games and cups, telling everyone he’s off if he won the CL final.. The glaring fact is he won nothing in 6 years with Kane who is arguably the greatest English striker ever… There is no point in banging on about wages and fees and net spends, its Levy who should be lauded or damned for this…… Pochy proved with us he is one of the worlds best coaches… But a poor manager….. If I had a 6 year gap in my career when I won nothing at all then I would be thoroughly ashamed… Botch was employed to manage the team to win titles.. Not to sort out wages, net spend etc.. He couldn’t manage an orgy in a brothel.. Years of repeating himself about winning philosophy, then hes constantly ‘berry appy’ after never winning anything.. After repeated failure the man was broken and so was our team.

The brainless resort to abuse when they have nothing left to fire with.. 98 per cent of these type can give it but they can’t take it… Personally I never abuse anyone, but if anyone does start running with insults, then it’s gloves off. I definitely reply in the same vein. It’s admirable when people don’t from my perspective. I can’t help but fight fire with fire.

ok so Mourinho got the backing and Poch did not because Levy trusted Mou and didn’t trust Poch. You just said it. Would we have known what would have happened had Levy invested in team depth while Poch was there? It’s a counterfactual argument and hence the answer is no. We will never know. But you are agreeing with the point I was making that Mou has been backed when Poch was not. Period.

The team at one stage was worth one billion (the most expensive in the world at the time. Poch couldn’t hustle simple. Do you know how many players came in and were sold under poch? Including selling the best youngster in Marcus Edwards? José was backed with a little £60 million and spent it wisely (new lane) plus over £100 million borrowed at 2% interest also levy obviously trusted winner José and not loser poch. Now hear this. There is no way José pep or klopp woulda been at tottenham for 5.5 years and not won anything

Ah finally the semblance of an argument. Ok. now we have something to work with. Poch had a 1 billion pound team?? You must be joking. Beyond the first eleven (which were no where close to a billion pounds in market value) which he repeatedly played in all the league and cup games, did have any depth and coverage like Mourinho has today? You buffoon! Use your brain. We didn’t lose the cup semis because Poch didn’t have a clue, we lost them because his best eleven which he was forced to play, because there wasn’t enough back-up quality in the team, were run into the ground. No investment in the team!

Yes we were building a 1 billion pound stadium (which by the way was supposed to cost only 400 million….bravo Levy!) but that’s on Levy and Lewis to find a way to fund investments in the team when you are so close to getting honors with a coach that was going to get you there but no….

So explain to me now, how is it that Levy was able to finance Doherty, Reguillon, 50% of Bale’s considerable salary, Hojberg, and Vinicius (not to mention Bergwijn prior to that) post the stadium construction costs and during a global pandemic that shattered the club’s revenues and we went from earning over 100 million pounds in profits during the 2018-2019 season, followed by a season where the club had 66 million pounds in losses? In the worst financial period the club was experiencing, he was able to fund the players above for Mourinho but for 18 months when the club was one of the most profitable clubs in the league, he did not make a single signing? Answer me that genius.

So don’t tell me Poch was backed. Yes he had excellent players in his team (which he played a large part in developing) including Kane, Alli, Eriksen, Walker, Rose, Vertonghen, Alderwereild, Dembele, etc…but beyond those where was the depth needed to compete on all fronts?

Be honest about the facts.

@Steve Williams….That is correct my opposition is based on my future prediction of how his tenure will go down at Spurs and the condition he will leave the club in, however, that prediction is not made in a vacuum with no historical context. How many times has Mourinho thrown his own players under the bus, killing their confidence and publicly shaming them. Has he ever taken responsibility for his failings at United and Chelsea (both stints towards the end of his tenures then)? No! The problems never lay with his own antiquated anti-football tactics but rather it was player X/Y/Z or the club is not backing him.

The finger is always pointed outward. The character of the man is bereft of honor and his tactics are of a bygone era. You can honestly tell me you enjoy the football he is serving up at Spurs, parking the bus with 5-6 at the back against mid-table teams let alone all the “top” teams? Shutting down the game after a 1-0 lead only to be bitten at the end by an equalizer (has happened quite a few times this season).

Yes I am basing my arguments on predictions of what will happen and decidedly I am not optimistic but I am basing those predictions on his history especially since 2015, on his character, and on the football he is serving up.

Perhaps the leopard will change its spots in this case. I am however not so fanciful in my expectations. I actually look at the historical record and base my analysis on that rather than exhortations that the man is a winner!

As I said above, I will be the first to eat my words if he brings in silverware to Spurs and leaves the club in a better place then when he joined it once he leaves. That did not happen at Chelsea in 2016 and it did not happen at United in 2018. Let’s see who is right. I truly hope I am wrong.

It makes no difference what the fans think of a manager. Utd for example can moan all they like. But ! The history books will show that as it stands Jose Mourinho was their most successful manager after Alex Ferguson left his role as manager. Those same history books will also show what they win over his tenure.

They won’t show how much was spent. They won’t show which players he alienated and they won’t show that the fans didn’t like him.

And that’s what matters. Love him or in your case loathe him. IF he wins us silverware where we’ve not won any for 13 years. 99.9 % of Spurs fans will take that.

And by the way, it’s interesting how you start above with the admonition for my use of “insults” as a tactic to win a “debate” (which this is not) when your opening salvo in your first comment began with: “Not a Spurs fan I take it. Not a Jose one either by the sounds. Did he finger your mum or something” That’s what prompted my response in like manner. It seems to me your arguments are specious and morally bankrupt. Fair enough. My use of profanity may have been overboard and inappropriate and I recant those words, although it may be hard for you to take the high road when you resort to the same tactics. Be that as it may, I will continue to press you on the point above: were Manure fans happy with their UEFA Cup by the time his tenure ended in shambles? I will be the first to eat my words if Mourinho wins trophies/honors for Spurs in a manner that ultimately does not alienate the team and the club and leaves Spurs in a better position to compete with the other top clubs in the league once he leaves. I am focused on the larger good for the club rather the one or two trophies that “may” come Spurs’ way at the expense of years of rebuilding that will need to take place after he typically leaves a club in shambles.

What is the prize money associated with that Cup? Not much at all I am afraid so financially it’s a nothing Cup. Oh is it prestigious enough to draw strong talent to Spurs? Oh yes, I want to go to Spurs because they won the Carrabao Cup. Wrong again! The honors that matter financially and reputationally for the club I would argue are the league title for sure, the CL and secondarily the UEFA cups. I would argue Carrabao and FA Cups are nothing cups. How many FA Cups did the scum win in the last 5-6 years? HOw are they doing? Those FA Cup wins really boosted their fortunes! Hmmmm. ‘Nuff said!

I’ve been a Spurs fan since 1981 at age 11 which is likely longer than you have been alive through thick and thin. So don’t presume to tell me whether I am a “true” fan or not. Poch got you 4 straight seasons of CL football with hardly any investment on the part of Levy in the team overachieving relative to the money that was being spent around him in the PL. Compare the football that was being served up before his time and since and tell me you enjoy the quality of the football now vs. Poch’s high press and attacking constructive football. Had Levy backed him in his last two years like he did Jose, he would have easily brought in silverware. But you don’t have the intellectual honesty to admit that. Let’s see if you’re singing the same tune once Jose leaves and Kane and Son and Lloris and Nndombele have been alienated by his inability to blame anyone else but himself when things are not going his way. It’s the players. It’s the club. It’s never him! Mourinho is in it for only one thing – himself! I am not a Poch apologist. I do think he was not backed and that resulted in him losing the plot in his last 18 months (despite reaching the CL final against all odds). All I know is that Mourinho’s reign at Spurs will end in disaster. YMMV.

Poch won nothing. In just over a season Jose has got into a cup final touching distance of a top 4 finish or better and still in two other major comps.

Only a fool would think things were better under Poch. Yes he got us to a CL final, then flunked it with his team selection. Yes he got a runners up spot in the PL but then also blew a nailed on runners up spot to our biggest rivals.

Take your rose tinted glasses off. The man became a serial loser. How many cup semi finals did he blow 🤷🏻‍♂️

He was at his level at S’hsmpton and now poised to maintain that level in France. He’ll win some domestic stuff, probably do ok in the CL but then la lique is a bit like the Scottish PL

With two of the best footballers in the world at their peak, this team needs to win stuff. So I can live with it for a few years even if it ends in drama. Oh my. You have put me in my place! No sir you are the loser because you have not yet recognized what a train wreck Mourinho’s narcisstic reign at Spurs will be. The club and its fans will ultimately lose as a consequence of his time at Spurs. If you choose to believe that he is a a “winner” and that it’s “not about him it’s about the club” as he repeatedly unconvincingly says in his news conferences, fine. You and Levy have clearly been beguiled by this man but do not say that you have not been forewarned because this ends in shambolic fashion for the club and the fans.

Oh give it up. Your sycophantic drooling over Mourinho and your incessant criticism of Poch is getting old. I would love to see how your tune will change in a year when Mou has alienated more than half the dressing room and leaves the club in shambles with your precious Carrabao trophy potentially in Spurs’ trophy case (and I hope we don’t win it because I would love nothing more than to see Mourinho lose his mind and start blaming more than Alli and a few other of his charges and start the impending downfall of the club). It happens at every team he goes to and if you think a Carrabao Cup is worth the multi-year stroll down mediocrity lane that will follow his reign as all our stars depart/get sold and another rebuilding project commences under our crap Chairman Levy and ENIC.
