Poch Narrowly Escapes Champions League Final Ban

Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino has narrowly avoided a touchline ban for the biggest game of his life, according to PA Sport’s Jonathan Veal.

It’s been a hectic few days for the club, as THFC also picked up a £5000 fine for the fan that managed to run onto the pitch during the Manchester City game.

Elsewhere, Poch’s name is linked with the Juve job. And it could reach an all-time high should Spurs win the Champions League next month.

After eight years of domestic dominance, Juventus crave another European crown and this season’s quarter-final exit against Ajax in the Champions League was a huge disappointment after signing Cristiano Ronaldo last summer for a fee reported to be 100million euros.

Pochettino has claimed he could leave Spurs if they won European club football’s biggest prize on June 1, although he did sign a new five-year contract last year. The Argentinian plays bright, attacking football and throughout his career has blooded young players but the fact he has not won a major trophy – yet – may work against him

Both my kids want to be YouTubers when they grow up, they tell me they don’t have to do well at school because of this.

Not so much a hoard, just a few sad and mentality ill people seeking notoriety. Fame is everything these days after all, if you have below 2k social media followers your life is worthless.

What a world it has become over a very short timeframe. It’s all very weird…

Levy will not get away with the sane old nonsense this time. Poch knows he can walk into any job he chooses now and his recent statements make it plain he’s endured his last bargain bin summer. He has earned at least two top class signings of his choice. If enic don’t deliver for him he will almost certainly go.

Really good article and couldn’t agree more. I am not expecting us to compete with City in money terms, just an attitude adjustment. We on average (until last 2 windows) spend £70m a year just on 5 players instead of 1.

Clubs should receive a hefty fine if they fix up money making friendlies when they’ve been given this winter break (didn’t actually know it was happening!) so their players can have a rest! No point there being one if they’re going to play anyway!

Our one chance, though, Paul is that some of our players needed a rest or to recover from injury, so this might work out fine for us, especially as our form has not been good of late. But Liverpool by comparison have been playing so well (even in the first leg against Barca they didn’t play too badly) that maybe they’ll go off the boil a bit – we can only hope!! That said, not at all confident about us overcoming the mighty reds; in fact, not really even considering the possibility. Could be a hammering, starting with the first corner they get!

Interesting assessment of whether levy’s sell to buy transfer policy is likely to continue this summer, even at the cost of losing poch. Points out that poch’s total net spend at Spurs, heading into his fifth levy summer, is just £7m and how levy’s only comment about this summer’s spending was that the club’s “[zero] net spend would not be affected.”

I wonder if city achievements could be stripped when they are found guilty of financial doping? Woohoo they won 3 domestic cups … they outspent everyone else in the league by almost £500m that’s like bragging usaine bolt won the sports day at a local infant school.

So there you go, City and every other epl player off on their hols (most already had a week) yet we have to wait another two fackin weeks for one match, what-a-mistake-a-to-make-a. It’s fackin stupid on all fronts, firstly the quality of the football on show becuase how are the competing teams meant to maintain anything like match fitness after a three week break and no matches? Secondly such along break actually ends up punishing the teams involved by extending the season for those involved by quite a margin AND the whole Summer recruitment of each club is completely thrown into the shitter because the outcome of the final will have a direct bearing on who comes and goes. It’s utterly ridiculous; The CL final should be played one week or max ten days after the semi-final, end of, there’s zero positive reasons to drag it out, only negative ones for those involved. Shortened player hols, affects pre-season and recruitment, sound familiar? You can bet we’ll be hearing about how so so difficult this made buying anyone come end of August. FFS, sort it out UEFA you fackin morons.

ps. fair ticket allocation for competing teams fan’s might be a good idea too.

pps. took you long enough H ?but glad to see the death star back online, if not ‘fully operational’.

There’s so much good stuff out there now you can get access to in terms of youtube blogs and audible books which is great listening and learning whilst driving or chilling….I’m at that age where I cant listen to any dj younger than 30 as it makes me want to rip the radio out of my car whilst they laugh at their own jokes!

This is a good blog, sometimes derided by its detractors for being too ‘negative’ (1 trophy in almost 20 years obviously not an issue then?) but that’s because some people are blinded by the bullshit. Democracy however requires people to question the status quo…

HH, hoping you can fix these ongoing bugs but I sense the demand to do this on on of the usual social media platforms is getting ever stronger. I’m not on any of them and in the name of freedom of speech and the refusenik element to any sane individual, I hope this isn’t the beginning of the end?!

Comments work but formatting is weird in last 2 paragraphs. Using samsung phone and Samsung internet browser if that helps.

As for poch being banned… that would have been a hard sell to the papers and foreign tv… hobbling the under dogs.
