‘Plotting a move’, ‘well-placed source’ – European giants plotting a ‘shock’ January move for Tottenham man

According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Bayern Munich are ‘plotting a move’ for Tottenham defender Eric Dier in January.

As per the report, ‘a well-placed source’ has claimed that Dier is likely to leave the club in January or next summer on a free transfer.

It adds that Bayern Munich’s ‘shock’ interest in the player is due to his experience and versatility, with the player able to play in the defense as well as in the midfield.

The German giants are looking to bolster both the positions and have identified Dier as one of the targets.

Dier was not able to impress Ange Postecoglou in the pre-season and has ended up being only a back up option for the Australian.

He did not make a single appearance for Spurs until the Chelsea game when Romero was sent off and Micky van de Ven was too forced off injured.

He came on to replace Brennan Johnson with Spurs eventually suffering their first defeat of the season.

He started his first game of the season against Wolves on Saturday, which they lost 2-1. Dier was under fire again as O’Hara blamed him for both the goals.

It was reported yesterday that Daniel Levy wants to get rid of him in January in hope to get some money from him instead of losing him for free in the summer.

While it has been previously suggested that Dier intends to play out his contract and leave on a free in the summer so he has his options open – interest from Bayern Munich could sway his decision.

TBH says:

A move to the Bundesliga giants would not only be considered a step up for him but he would get a chance to reunite with his good pal Harry Kane who is causing havoc in the Bundesliga ever since moving in the summer.

Whether Bayern makes a move for him in January remains to be seen, but if they do, it is very likely that Levy will take the cash and sell him off in the first instance.
