“…player Tottenham need” – Sky Sports man claims Tottenham should make a move for Premier League star

Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp has stated that his former club should make a move to sign West Ham’s star midfielder Declan Rice.

Redknapp, who is now a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that Rice is the type of player Tottenham should be targeting to improve their squad.

He said (via Football.London):

“Declan Rice. Arsenal are in the mix. Why can’t Spurs be in the mix? That’s the sort of level of player Tottenham need to be after right now but I don’t think that will happen.”

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from West Ham for some time now, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United all reportedly interested in signing him.

Despite West Ham’s poor season, Rice has been one of their standout players, putting in consistent performances in the defensive midfield position.

However, a move to Tottenham seems unlikely, with Arsenal reportedly keen on making Rice their primary transfer target in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Gunners are said to be ready to spend big to secure Rice’s signature, and Tottenham would have to compete with them for his services.

Rice has a £100million price tag on him, and with two years remaining on his contract, West Ham could be set for a bidding war if they choose to sell him.

The academy graduate has been a vital player for West Ham, making 238 appearances for the club and contributing 14 goals and 13 assists.

It remains to be seen where Rice will end up, but it is clear that the midfielder is highly sought after in the Premier League.

Tottenham will have to act fast if they want to compete with their London rivals for Rice’s signature, but with Arsenal reportedly leading the race and with Champions League football guaranteed, a move to Spurs may be unlikely.
