Plausible XI To Beat Burnley Tonight|image

By The Boy -

As we covered in this week’s show Burnley are not some potentially deadly northern force of nature, they are a side we need to dispatch without too much fuss. Sean Dyche’s mob only just picked up their first Premier League point at West Brom, last time out. Burnley’s goal difference is minus 8. West Brom’s goal difference is minus 9. Forget the ‘its grim up north’ sketch, Burnley have not been very good at playing football this season and I predict a goal fest this evening!

Not at all. Dier = average and slow, Toby = old and slow, Sanchez = lacks focus, prone to mistakes, Tangana and Rondon = too young and untried for fair comment. Davies = left back used in emergencies. So no… Not even close to too soon. The reason we leak so much at the back is the poor CB’s.

Sissy seems to be back in favour so I expect him to start instead of LoCelso and Bale to start on the bench

What about if Davies plays LCB alongside Rodon and helps guide him through the game. Two Welsh teammates together.Davies would be much steadier than Sanchez,he hasn’t got his pace, but would concerntrate for 90 odd minutes.

Aurier wasn’t great against West Ham and I thought Doherty played well against LASK,it’s good having competition for places. I agree Bale will more likely be a sub.

I like Skipp but was all for him going out on loan.He needs to play every week and gain experience, something he wasn’t going to get at Spurs. Even if we had kept him he would still be at best on the bench and he has already filled that role for a couple of seasons without getting a break. He will comeback a more complete player which will benefit him and Spurs in the long term.

Skipp. We loaned the wrong player.

Hojbjerg doesn’t do injuries he just bleeds, patches up and carries on.The answer to who replaces him is, currently the only other option Winks.

With Dier, Alderweirld, Sanchez, Tanganga, Rodon and Davies is it not a bit early to be thinking of another centre back come January?

Most important thing just get 3 points ,feel robbed after Newcastle and Wetspam ,lets get up top and build a lead.
Apart from the best centre back pairing what about when hojbjerg needs a rest or is injured? ndombele ,le celso and who?

Alas I see Sanchez alongside Toby and Aurier for Doherty. And I don’t think Bale will start either.

Will be very interested to see how we cope tonight. We’re becoming a Jekyll and Hyde side and I wonder which one will turn up tonight? We should thrash them, but please don’t take your foot off the brake lads, keep it up for the full 90 minutes, because we can’t even defend a 3-0 lead with 8 minutes left.
Mourinho play Pochettino football please, attack and press throughout the game, I don’t want to see any darned buses tonight. Every time I see one drive past me these days I think of you mate.

Other than ROndon next to Sanchez – I love it!! Rondon will need to start alongside Toby I think. However, this conversation in itself tells you what january needs to be about, we do no thave a CB pairing that anyone has faith in at all. You couldnt have a more critical role in a counter attacking style, we cant afford a CB pairing made up of our 4 options.

Despite the excellence of our potent attack, the fact that we simply don’t keep clean sheets and defensively vulnerable is a big problem. Rest assured whilst it is only lowly Burnley this symbolic match tonight is a test of our title credentials.

Fair point but I would be happy with Dier & Toby tonight simply because Sanchez always switches off and can be got at. Is he too quiet I don’t know. Nice defender he is he can’t help it. He just does it not imposing enough for my liking. Overall all his good work is generally undone by an error(s)

He plays Sanchez because Dier & Toby are too slow to play together.I would prefer to see Joe Rodon beside the experienced Alderweirld than Sanchez, for his debut.

You know that I know that so why Jose keeps faith is a mystery!
I would drop both Sanchez and Aurier but in all probability that ain’t going to happen.

Also anticipating that we shall be frustrated by Nic Pope tonight!!

Sanchez doesn’t deserve to keep his place for his last performance, thats what competition for places is for and replace him with Toby.

Presumable Burnley’s simple tactics is to hoof the ball into the box via crosses from Barnes and McNeil for Chris Wood knockdowns, as opposed to our more elegant incisive style of play!
No excuses good luck, bad luck it’s a must win tonight to close the gap at the top to 2 pts!. An ugly 1 nil will do. Just win!!!

Inviting trouble I’ll suspect Jose will select both Aurier and Sanchez. If so not a wise decision me thinks but heh ho I do’t pick the side!!
