PL rivals could return for 24-year-old Tottenham utility man in January

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga has been linked with a move away from the club this month.

The 24-year-old central defender is currently on loan at Bundesliga club Augsburg, but he has not played a single minute of league football with them.

He has suffered from a knee injury and the defender is now being linked with a return to England. According to reports from Daily Mail, Luton Town are keen on a move for the Tottenham defender and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.

The Hatters wanted to sign the player at the start of the season as well, but they failed to get a deal done. They believe that they have a better chance this time around.

Staying at the German club beyond January does not make sense for the 24-year-old defender and he should look to move on in such a regular plane time. If Luton can promise him first-team action, returning to the Premier League would be ideal for him.

The versatile defender was highly rated when he exploded onto the first-team scene at Tottenham. However, he has not been able to establish himself as a regular starter for the north London club. He can operate as a fullback as well as a central defender.

Perhaps a permanent exit from Tottenham would be ideal for him and if he manages to impress at Luton during the second half of the season, he might be able to secure a respectable move in the summer.
