Pete O’Rourke claims Premier League club are now ‘prepared to sell’ 25-year-old to Tottenham in January

Everton are ‘prepared to sell’ center-back Ben Godfrey to Tottenham, according to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke.

Tottenham’s urgent need for defensive reinforcements in the January transfer window has seen them linked with several players.

With summer signing Micky van de Ven expected to be out until February, and Eric Dier also picking up a groin injury which is expected to keep him out for ‘months’, Spurs are left with Cristian Romero as their sole senior center-back.

They have been so far been linked with the likes of Marc Guehi, Lloyd Kelly, Jarrad Branthwaite, Ben Godfrey, Goncalo Inacio among others.

While Everton is unwilling to part ways with Branthwaite, reports suggest Godfrey, signed for £20 million in 2020, is available for transfer.

He’s allegedly fallen out of favor under Dyche’s leadership, prompting Everton to consider offloading him to ease their wage bill, potentially accepting a loss on the player.

They will have to compete against Newcastle for his signature who are also interested in signing him and can offer him more money as well as Champions League football.

Godfrey could offer Spurs a solution to their defensive woes, providing depth and cover in a position that has become a critical concern for the North London club.
