Tottenham Hotspur have regained their momentum with three consecutive Premier League wins, including an emphatic 4-1 triumph over Ipswich Town this past Saturday. However, despite this recent upturn in form, uncertainty still surrounds Ange Postecoglou’s future at the club.
Spurs currently sit in 12th place in the table and have already been knocked out of both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, leading to speculation about whether the Australian manager will be given the time to turn things around.
Paul Robinson on Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham
Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson recently shared his thoughts on the situation, suggesting that Postecoglou is likely to remain in charge until the end of the season.
Robinson emphasised that, despite the team’s inconsistent results, there are no clear-cut managerial candidates available who would be an immediate upgrade at this stage.
The pundit also pointed out the significant injury crisis that has plagued Spurs this season. A total of 19 players have been sidelined at different points, with at least eight of them being key starters. This has severely impacted Postecoglou’s ability to implement his tactical approach and maintain stability within the squad.
Additionally, Robinson noted that Tottenham had a quiet January transfer window, leaving Postecoglou without the reinforcements he may have needed to strengthen his squad. Given these challenges, he believes that dismissing the manager now would provide little benefit, especially since Spurs still have hopes in the Europa League.
Speaking to Tottenham News, Robinson said:
“I think he’s in the job until the end of the season in all honesty.
“I think he deserves that opportunity, because there’s no managers available who would jump out and go, that’s the one for us. I think with him, they’ve been hugely hampered by injuries, more so than any other club.
“He’s had 12 players injured, probably eight of them would start every game if you like. So you look at how his hands have been tied. For me, he’s there until the end of the season.
“I don’t think he got back as much as he probably wanted to or was needed in January. But you get nothing by sacking a manager at this stage of the season when they’re still in the Europa League. European places in the league look out of touch. I don’t really see the benefit in sacking him now.”

TBH Says:
While Postecoglou has faced criticism due to Tottenham’s struggles in the league, it is important to acknowledge the difficulties he has encountered, particularly the injury setbacks that have affected every position on the pitch.
With European qualification through the league becoming increasingly challenging, the remainder of the season will be crucial in shaping the Australian’s future. However, for now, he seems to have the support to continue guiding the team as they aim to finish the campaign on a strong note.
