“Over the hill” “Spent force” This prospective Spurs winter transfer is greeted coldly by many fans

By The Boy -

The enigmatic tale that is Harry Kane’s possible exit from Tottenham, I think it is fair to say, is one that has bored most fans. Those that were once excited about his future have had their enthusiasm heavily dampened by a stream of form one wouldn’t wish upon an enemy. To suggest that the England captain has struggled this season is a chronic understatement. The stat-padding for his country against incredibly poor opponents, such as San Marino, has failed to divert attention from the 28-year-old’s distinctly underwhelming performances for Spurs.

The cold reality is that Kane ought to be currently in his element, with the world at his feet, but it feels as if he is closer to picking up a knock to one of his ankles and slinking further away from the limelight. Whatever the specifics of his abortive move to Manchester City might be, the psychological damage to the player appears to have its claws deep into the boy. These fans via Mail online clearly have a mix of loyalties, but surely reflect a wider football view, that Kane is currently residing in a file marked, ‘yesterday’s man’.

Way to go. You won’t get a response for refuting the nonesense some keeps writing. When you start asking your fullback to be the engine and supplier of chances you are indeed making excuses. I know it is modern day football. And had we pull out wingbacks in somewhere around the half line and make overlaps like of old, Moura and Son afforded the space down the flanks would be nightmare for defenders. But these guys here making excuse for Kane having his head in the blues of Mancity. Well done boss. Am not a Pep or Klopp guy, but give then credit for using the same system bit you do not see TAA on top of Salah or Walker on David Silva. Very rare the wingbacka for City and Pool are below the 18 yards box. We keep putting undue pressure on our backs and they will never be good as the expectation if some here. Am hesitant to ask if they ever play the game. I can put my hands up and said I played and good the game for a long time.

This 343 will change to a 352 by next season.. Conte will want two strikers with a CAM behind them, plus two defensive midfielders.. This is his best and most favoured formation. And his most successful… But we don’t have the players for this yet.

You’re looking for excuse after excuse where H has already nailed it. Kane should be in his prime right now, he has been awful because of the mental toll. He’s depressed… Yours and Eastys claims that Kane has ‘turned in to our creative midfielder’ is rather inaccurate. He only has 2 assists so far. Last season he was top for goals and assists. Son and Moura both have more assists than Kane right now, as well as more goals. They have also both created more key chances than Kane. I’ve watched Kane miss a glut of chances and it’s the average players around him you blame. It’s these average players that are carrying him at the minute. Sanchez and Davies are even managing to score. Moura has carried on as our best player from the end of last season ever since the Kane/Neville interview. I know his final ball is still wanting but he’s been a hero for us.. He tackles, he intercepts, he fights, he tracks back, he causes everyone problems with his pace, he takes people on with great dribbling, he drives forward with the ball when others heads go down, you know he plays with his heart on his sleeve and he leaves nothing out there. Consistently high in effort and desire which you can’t say for Kane and many others.

I really don’t understand playing 343 with 2 CDMs but my track record can’t compare with Conte’s.

I really have never blamed Harry for wanting to go to a team like City that have several guys (Foden, KDB, Grealish, Cancelo, Gundogan, Rodri) that can get him the ball in places where he can strike. We don’t have any player half as good as any of those guys.

I will never knock Harry but he has missed a few chances he would have buried last year.

Kane is far from being a spent force. He is just surrounded by average players. Opposition managers have 2 defensive gems when they play us. 1) When Kane gets it, mark Son. 2) When Son gets it, mark Kane. Anyone but these two on the ball and we do not expect much in terms of attacking intent. Moura has looked relatively lively, but he is just too inconsistent.

Gerrard has got his Villa full backs attacking like Liverpool’s and City’s. Until our full backs join in and produce quality in the final third Kane’s woes will continue. We have to stretch play out wide as there is very little quality coming from central midfield.

Kane has hardly had a glut of chances created for him, and he should be outscoring the prolific Fred, but it is obvious his confidence is low so the chances he gets (lobbing Krul) are not taken in his usual stride. Get the ball in the box for him and he’ll be back on it. Unfortunately, Kane has turned in to our creative midfielder because there is no one to do this role. At least we have 2 defensive midfielders!

What Harry is really missing is someone, anyone, that can actually deliver balls to him in the box. I saw him make several runs against Norwich, with his hand clearly raised calling for the ball and no one (in particular Davies) delivered the ball. Yes, he scores a lot against the likes of San Marino and Andorra, but it doesn’t hurt to have players like Grealish, Mount, TAA and Foden that can actually play him in instead of heads-down dribblers like Sonny and Lucas and CDMs more comfortable at the back. Spurs have never replaced prime Eriksen so now Harry is forced to drop back and fill the role himself!
